The Jerusalem's District Court on Thursday ruled to allow the offshore drilling rig 'Leviathan' to operate as scheduled within Israel, reversing an earlier ruling banning the drilling due to environmental concerns.
The court's Judge Eli Abarbanel is said to have been convinced by the Ministry of Environmental Protection that Leviathan's work program, and gas output permit, were formulated based on the opinions of certified specialists.
The court will discuss further the appeal by the environmental protection organization Home Land Guards, regarding the discontinuation of Leviathan's drilling.
