White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said Russian President Vladimir Putin called U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday and thanked him for "information provided that helped foil a potential holiday terrorist attack in Russian."
The two leaders also discussed counterterrorism cooperation and the potential for arms control, the White House said.
Russia said on Sunday it had thwarted attacks reportedly planned in St. Petersburg thanks to a tip from Washington.
