The new leader of the Islamist terrorist group, the Islamic State, was named as Amir Mohammed Abdul Rahman al-Mawli al-Salbi, the Guardian newspaper reported on Monday.
According to two intelligence agencies, al-Salbi took control of the organization soon after the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in October and is one of the Islamic State's founding members. He apparently has personally overseen IS operations around the world.
