High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel said on Sunday that U.S. President Donald Trump's so-called Deal of the Century for the Middle East challenges past understandings of the international community regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
"The Deal of the Century challenges many understandings agreed upon by the international community," said Borrel. "The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the most complex, painful and long-standing in history. The last fifty years show that without a bilateral agreement, no peace plan has a chance to succeed. In order to find a stable path forward, both parties have to go back to the negotiation table."
