The United States is "very very worried" about the escalation in Syria's Idlib, led by an assault by Syrian government forces and supported by Russians as well as aligned Iranian militia and Hezbollah, the top U.S. envoy for Syria said on Wednesday, repeating a call on Moscow to change its policies.
In a briefing with reporters, James Jeffrey also said the Russians were increasingly violating the terms of their mutual de-confliction agreement in northeastern Syria, a move he said Moscow was doing to challenge U.S. presence in the region.
