Police raided several houses in the ultra-Orthodox Jerusalem neighborhood of Mea Shearim Tuesday morning and arrested seven people suspected of assaulting a soldier and a municipal worker, burning the state flag, and vandalism.
Another suspect was arrested while trying to disturb the police during the operation.
Police also said that unknown individuals poured oil on a nearby road, effectively blocking it, to prevent the arrests.
