Hundreds of protesters in Tel Aviv against plan to demolish Muslim cemetery

Hassan Shaalan |
Hundreds of people have attended Friday prayers near the Muslim cemetery in Jaffa, which the Tel Aviv Municipality plans to demolish in order to build a homeless shelter.
The former mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Akrameh Sabri, addressed the worshipers, explaining the danger of excavation and the importance of maintaining the cemetery.
At the end of the prayer, protesters blocked roads, set off fireworks in the street, and called for the resignation of Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai.
