Senate approves bill to avoid shutdown, sending it to Trump

Associated Press|
By a sweeping bipartisan vote Wednesday, the Senate sent President Donald Trump a bill to fund the government through Dec. 11, averting the possibility of a government shutdown when the new fiscal year starts Thursday.
White House chief of staff Mark Meadows told reporters traveling with Trump that the president would sign the bill as soon as he returns to the White House early Thursday. Officials said just before 1 a.m. that he had signed it.
