The European Court of Justice upheld on Thursday a ban on kosher slaughter in Belgium which has been applied by the provinces of Wallonia and Flanders.
Jewish communities across Europe fear the decision could lead other European countries to ban kosher slaughter as well.
Israeli Ambassador to Belgium Emanuel Nachshon called the ruling "catastrophic' and a "blow to Jewish life in Europe."
