The Health Ministry reported Tuesday evening 5,092 new cases of coronavirus out of some 53,000 tests conducted since midnight, meaning 9.6% of all tests came back positive.
There were 1,147 Israelis hospitalized in serious condition with COVID-19, 293 of them were on ventilators.
The national COVID-19 death toll climbed to 4,060 with 48 Israelis dying of the disease in the last two days alone.
