Longest jailed Palestinian prisoner contracts COVID-19

Fuad al-Shobaki the longest jailed Palestinian prisoner is seriously ill with COVID-19.
Shobaki was sentenced to 17 years in prison in 2009 on charges he masterminded weapons smuggling from Iran in the height of the Second Intifada on board the Karin A captured by Israel in 2002.
He is suffering from underlying health conditions including cancer and hart and lung illnesses.
The Palestinian Commission for Prisoners Affairs in Gaza has been advocating for his release on humanitarian grounds.
