Prof. Ran Balicer, the head of the coronavirus task force "Magen Israel", said on Thursday that lockdowns have proven to no longer be effective against the spread of the pathogen, but vaccines are.
"The number of patients is not falling despite the lockdown, and what actually helps to deal with the epidemic are vaccines," Balicer told Ynet in an interview.
"There is a clear decline in infection rates and severe morbidity among the vaccinated population. This is excellent news that once again stresses the need for people, especially over the age of 50, to get vaccinated now and protect themselves."
