The Syrian Health Ministry said late on Monday that medical teams on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic will be vaccinated as of Tuesday, according to a report in the Lebanese Al Akhbar daily newspaper.
The paper did not elaborate on the amount or type vaccines available.
The Syrian government announced last week that vaccines were delivered by an unnamed "friendly country."
Last month Israel agreed to finance the purchase of the Russian Sputnik vaccine as part of a Russian negotiated deal to secure the return of an Israeli woman who crossed the border into Syria on her own volition.
