The United Arab Emirates has suspended preparations for an upcoming summit which was slated to take place in April in fear Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would use it to promote himself ahead of the March 23 elections, Ynet's sister publication Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Thursday.
The event was set to take place in Abu Dhabi and host Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a senior official from the Biden administration and the heads of Arab states that have established diplomatic relations with Israel over the past year.
Netanyahu hinted at the event in interviews he has given to the media in recent days, including in an interview this week at the Ynet studio.
Emirates ruler and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Zayed was reportedly distraught with what he deemed as an abuse of the normalization agreement with Israel for Netanyahu's election campaign.
