Meretz leader urges Rivlin to give Lapid shot at forming gov't

|
Meretz leader Nitzan Horowitz Monday urged President Reuven Rivlin to task Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid with forming a government if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fails by an early May deadline.
"We will not allow any shticks and tricks in forming a government - no Netanyahu presidency, no immunity law or any other proposals we have heard about," he said.
Meretz MK Tamar Zandberg said that the party will oppose a proposal to reintroduce direct election for prime minister.
