Israel bans Lag BaOmer bonfires except for 'special areas'

Roi Rubinstein|
Lag Baomer bonfires will not be permitted across most parts of the country during the holiday next week, according to a statement released by Fire and Rescue Services on Thursday.
"Bonfires will not be permitted due to extreme weather conditions that raise the risk for wildfires and damage to both persons and property," the statement said.
The order is valid from April 27 through May 2, and it will apply to all areas of the country, except for areas that are accustomed to lighting bonfires.
