Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai decided that Jews would not be able to ascend the Temple Mount in honor of Jerusalem Day, which takes place on Monday.
"We will continue to allow the freedom of worship, but we will not allow any disturbances," police said in a statement.
Thousands of police and border police officers have been deployed since the early hours of the morning throughout Jerusalem and the Old City to secure the expected Jerusalem Day celebrations.
