Four rioters were seriously injured during clashes with police in the Arab town of Kafr Kanna Friday night following the arrest of a senior Islamic Movement official.
The riots broke out after police arrested Sheikh Kamal Khatib, the deputy chairman of the Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel, after he participated in riots in the town the previous day.
Rioters blocked roads, set fires, threw rocks and even opened fire on the police while trying to block their exit. Two other people were moderately injured and dozens were lightly injured by live ammunition or rubber bullets.
