Defense Minister Benny Gantz held talks with his U.S. counterpart Lloyd Austin on Friday as part of talks aimed at strengthening the ceasefire agreed last week between Israel and Hamas.
"Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has reaffirmed the United States' staunch support for Israel's security," the Pentagon said in a statement after their discussion.
"He also shares the support expressed by the administration to establish lasting security based on the ceasefire," he added.
