UN denies Iran right to vote in the General Assembly

|
The UN has decided to deny Iran the right to vote in the General Assembly on Friday because it has not paid its membership fees for two years.
Iran has been outraged at the move, calling it "preposterous" and even pointing the finger of blame at U.S. sanctions. According to Iranian Foreign Minister Muhammad Zarif, "the Iranian people have been punished for late payments by those guilty for them not being able to pay."
However, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said the Islamic Republic would transfer the payment soon.
Meanwhile, the UN has decided to deny the right to vote to four countries in the African continent that have not paid their membership fees.
