Britain will delay the approval process for the deal to transfer control of the Chagos Archipelago, which includes the Diego Garcia island vital to the U.S. This was reported by the BBC. A dispute has erupted between U.S. President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer over his intention to hand over ownership of the islands to Mauritius, as Diego Garcia has hosted an American air base since the 1970s that the U.S. leases from Britain, which has strategic importance for its operations in the region. Among other things, in April last year, Trump sent a third of the B-2 bomber fleet to the island ahead of the strike on Iran in the 12-Day War.
