Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said during a Security Council debate on the strikes in Iran that 'Iran's future belongs to its citizens, not the Revolutionary Guards.' According to him, 'The operation is not against you but against a regime that oppressed you and invested in missiles and uranium instead of the economy and freedom. Israel will not wait for threats to ripen, when a regime openly declares its intention to destroy Israel and prepares the means to do so – Israel believes it and acts.' The Iranian ambassador said that Tehran is now acting in self-defense, adding that 'all bases, facilities and assets of the hostile force are considered legitimate military targets.'
