Pro-Palestinian protesters are preparing to gather in Sydney in protest of Israeli President Isaac Herzog's arrival in Australia, who was invited for an official visit following the massacre at a Hanukkah event in Bondi Beach in December. Police called on protesters to assemble in a park in central Sydney, but the demonstrators announced they plan to reach the city's historic town hall. Police have been authorized to use rarely utilized powers, including the ability to separate and move crowds, restrict entry to certain areas, order people to leave and conduct vehicle searches.
