German Foreign Minister Johann Wodfull said that "the German government is committed to imposing additional sanctions on violent settlers. The illegal settlements are a major obstacle to the two-state solution, and the settlement construction policy clearly contradicts international law." The minister visited the Palestinian Authority territories and added: "The increasing violence of extremist settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank is a crime and terrorism. They must be brought to justice and Palestinians must be protected."
