The first baby in Israel and among the first in the world was recently born to a woman who underwent uterine transposition surgery at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva. Uterine transposition surgery is a groundbreaking procedure designed to preserve fertility in women diagnosed with pelvic cancer before beginning radiation treatments. The baby born in Israel is the sixth in the world born to women who have undergone this procedure. Prof. Ram Eitan, head of the Gynecological Oncology Unit at the Women's Hospital in Beilinson, performed the uterine transposition surgery several years ago and recently delivered the baby via cesarean section.
