Some 130,000 visitors flocked to nature reserves and national parks across the country as part of Independence Day celebrations. The Nature and Parks Authority reported that the most popular sites were Ma'ayan Harod, Horshat Tal, Ein Hemed, Tzipori, Castel, Yarkon National Park (Tel Afek), Tel Ashkelon, Einot Tzukim Nature Reserve, Coral Beach in Eilat and Ein Afek. About 1,000 visitors spent Independence Day night at overnight camping areas, mainly in the south of the country.
