The Nature and Parks Authority seized 66 birds that were kept illegally in a private home in Yavne. The birds, from 22 species prohibited for private ownership, were kept under harsh conditions and suffered from numerous injuries. The authority stated that 'the operation was carried out after the Yavne municipal hotline received a report from a concerned resident who noticed that dozens of birds were being kept inside a storage unit located in an underground parking lot of a building in the city. This morning, inspectors raided the home and rescued all the birds, which were kept under harsh conditions accompanied by strong odors. The birds were transferred for further treatment at the wildlife hospital at Ramat Gan Safari.'
