The 'Alert Mother' movement, comprised of mothers of combat soldiers, has filed a petition to the Supreme Court against the use of the 'delayed release' procedure (Order 77) - which extends mandatory service for IDF combat soldiers due to the prolonged war and absence of legislative regulation on the matter. The mothers' petition states that the mechanism 'was explicitly designed to circumvent the obligation to draft ultra-Orthodox men and constitutes a direct violation of the law.' The petition was filed through Attorney Batya Kahana-Dror, one of the leaders of 'Alert Mother.'
