Takahiro Shiraishi (34), a death row inmate convicted of murdering nine people, was hanged in Japan. This was reported by local media, which noted that this is the first time since July 2022 that the death penalty has been carried out in the country. Shiraishi, dubbed the "Twitter Killer" in Japanese media because he located his victims through posts they published on the social network, confessed to the murders after police discovered human remains hidden in coolers and boxes at his home in 2017.
