Israel estimates: Hamas response will once again be 'yes, but' - though gaps have narrowed

Israeli officials estimate that similar to previous occasions, Hamas's response will be "yes, but," and that the terror organization will still try to maximize conditions in negotiations. Israel believes that Hamas's demands will again focus on Israeli withdrawal lines - but the gap has narrowed to just hundreds of meters. Israel is willing to extend the withdrawal line to about 1,000-1,200 meters from the Philadelphi Corridor, while Hamas demands stand at 800 meters. The terror organization is also expected to demand more releases of prisoners serving life sentences, and in this case too the gap is small - apparently standing at between 100 and 150 such prisoners.
