Foreign Ministry: Brazil refused to appoint new Israeli ambassador, relations conducted at lower level

|
The Foreign Ministry has updated that Brazil refused to appoint Gali Dagan as Israel's ambassador to the country, and as a result the request was withdrawn - and relations are now being conducted "at a lower diplomatic level." According to the ministry, "The critical and hostile line that Brazil has demonstrated toward Israel since October 7 intensified from the moment its president Lula compared Israel's actions to those of the Nazis. In response, Israel declared him persona non grata." In light of the non-appointment of an ambassador, it was reported that "the Foreign Ministry continues to maintain deep contact with the many circles of friends Israel has in Brazil."
