Two American officials told CBS News that Jared Kushner, son-in-law and adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, added former lobbyist Nick Stewart to the negotiating team with Iran. Stewart worked at the State Department during Trump's first term as president. According to the report, Stewart was added to the team before the failed round of talks in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, in April. Stewart previously lobbied for the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, which expressed support for military action against Iran.
