The Central District Juvenile Court sentenced a young Palestinian to 20 years in prison who, as a minor, stole a vehicle and ran over and killed police officer Barak Meshulam in 2022. The defendant was convicted on all charges in the indictment including aggravated murder, illegal entry into Israel, vehicle theft, driving without a license, driving without valid insurance, deliberately endangering lives on a transportation route, deliberate sabotage and obstructing a police officer. The court sentenced the defendant to 20 years in prison, a suspended sentence, revocation of his driving license for 15 years and maximum compensation of 258,000 shekels to Meshulam's family.
