Tal Brody, one of Israel's greatest basketball players of all time, has been elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts. Brody, one of the greatest legends of Israeli basketball, grew up in the United States, played in college basketball, came to Israel in the 1960s and led Maccabi Tel Aviv to numerous championships, including its first European Cup in 1977 with a victory over Mobilgirgi Varese. That year's European campaign included the most famous victory in the club's history, against CSKA Moscow in Virton, after which Brody coined the immortal phrase: 'We are on the map and we are staying on the map, not only in sports - in everything.'
