The Israeli who was seriously wounded in the ramming attack at Bel Checkpoint was standing outside the police vehicle at the time, when the terrorist, Mahmoud Suleiman, 29, from Beit Ur al-Tahta, suddenly swerved off the road and struck him with his vehicle. The terrorist was traveling from west to east, in a lane designated for Palestinian traffic. A soldier who was at the checkpoint attempted to engage and neutralize the terrorist, but he tried to hit him as well. Subsequently, additional forces at the scene opened fire at the attacker, and he was eliminated.
