At least 23 people were killed due to tornadoes and severe weather in Kentucky, Missouri and Virginia in the central and eastern United States. According to local authorities, at least 14 were killed in Kentucky, seven in Missouri and two more in Virginia. Additionally, reports indicate that at least 600,000 people were left without power from Michigan to Tennessee.
