"The IDF recognizes the importance of the olive harvest and works to enable it throughout the West Bank," the statement said. "After a period of security tension and friction between Israelis and Palestinians related to the olive harvest, particularly following a week of increased violent incidents, it was decided to restrict access to the harvesting event for those who are not residents of the area or landowners."
