IDF: "Due to friction over olive harvest, decision made to restrict access for non-residents"

The IDF spokesperson addressed the stopping of buses and road blockades for left-wing activists in the Ariel area who intended to participate in olive harvesting in the Horin area as a gesture of solidarity with Palestinians, amid recent nationalist crime incidents. "The IDF recognizes the importance of the olive harvest and works to enable it throughout the West Bank," the statement said. "After a period of security tension and friction between Israelis and Palestinians related to the olive harvest, particularly following a week of increased violent incidents, it was decided to restrict access to the harvesting event for those who are not residents of the area or landowners."
