|
Israeli criminal Matan Arbiv was arrested in Thailand at Israel's request with Interpol assistance. The arrest was carried out at an apartment on the island of Koh Samui, where he had been staying recently, and he was subsequently transferred to Bangkok. The arrest was made possible following a 'green notice' issued through Interpol based on an arrest warrant issued against him by a court in Israel. In Israel, Arbiv is suspected of involvement in a series of serious crimes, including shootings, planting explosive devices, throwing grenades and assassination attempts. According to suspicions, in recent months he stayed in Northern Cyprus and from there moved to Thailand. According to assessments, Arbiv is expected to be deported from Thailand to Israel in the near future. His attorneys, Yaniv Daniel and Sharon Nahari, responded: 'We are working with all authorities to bring about his swift deportation and avoid his detention in Thailand.'
