IDF: '15 proactive arrest attempts of deserters and draft dodgers made in September — 8 succeeded'

|
An IDF spokesperson stated that "the claim that we provided false information is incorrect. It should be clarified that during the Tishrei holidays, patrol units and preparations for arresting draft dodgers and deserters at various border crossings were reinforced, beyond the routine activity and presence. During the holidays, more than 200 deserters and draft dodgers were arrested at border crossings proactively. In parallel, proactive arrests were also carried out by the Military Police, all in coordination with the police. During September, the Military Police carried out 15 proactive arrest attempts of deserters and draft dodgers. Of these, eight deserters and draft dodgers were actually arrested."
