Minibus driver from Tira indicted for negligent homicide in crash that killed 2 students

|
The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment in the Central District Traffic Court against minibus driver Adi Ashkir, 25, from Tira, for causing the negligent deaths of two minors aged 16 and 17.5 in a fatal traffic accident at the Sorek Junction in May. The accident claimed the lives of Shira Mazal Naim, a 10th-grade student from Sdeh Uziyahu, and Aharon Peretz, a 12th-grade student from Ashdod. According to the indictment, a truck driver with a trailer stopped at the Sorek Junction on the shoulder and began slowly merging onto the road. Ashkir was driving behind him, but despite having a wide field of vision and the truck's signals, he failed to notice it, did not maintain a safe distance, and crashed forcefully into the trailer from behind.
