The Tel Aviv District Court sentenced Amit Almog (28) to 25 years in prison after he was convicted in a plea deal of murdering his former partner Maya Vishnyak (22) in May 2020. Additionally, Almog will pay compensation of 258,000 shekels to Maya's family. According to the original indictment, during an argument between the couple, he strangled Vishnyak to death, photographed her body, scattered banknotes over it and sent the photos to a friend. After about five and a half years, the parties reached a plea agreement under which the indictment was amended - the murder charge was reduced to basic murder - after it was determined that the acts were committed while he was under the influence of drugs.
