Report: American pressure on Israel led to 'cautious progress' in ceasefire talks

The London-based Arabic-language newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat" reported that American pressure on Israel has led to "cautious progress" toward a possible announcement of a two-month ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. According to the newspaper, indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel continued yesterday in Qatar, against the backdrop of meetings between U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington. In addition, Hamas sources told the newspaper that "progress" had been made following the meeting between the leaders in the U.S., but emphasized that "disputes have not been finally resolved."
