During a three-hour political-security cabinet meeting last night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz acknowledged that the reason the IDF has not struck in Beirut is the American veto preventing attacks on Lebanon's capital. The discussion focused primarily on the deadly drone threat from Lebanon. "We are not restricted from operating in Beirut, we operated there recently," Netanyahu claimed. Minister Orit Strock responded: "Operating three weeks ago does not mean we are not restricted. We need to act with deeds, we are a sovereign state and we must not accept restrictions on defending our communities." Katz said: "Our equation is that if there are drones, we bomb Dahieh. The Americans are preventing this, and they are our partners."
