More than 350 diplomats, former ministers and senior officials from European countries are calling on the European Union to suspend its association agreement with Israel. This emerges from an opinion piece published in Belgian media. In the letter, the signatories claim that Israel systematically violates the human rights of Palestinians, thereby deviating from the core principles on which the agreement with the Union is based. It is further claimed that the Union is taking too passive an approach toward Israel, especially compared to the sanctions imposed on Russia in cases of similar violations of international law.
