Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will not be allowed to travel to New York and participate in the UN General Assembly convening next week, after the United States again denied him a visa for entry into the country. This was confirmed by a source familiar with the details to the AFP news agency, following a report on Ynet last month about this intention by the US. Earlier, the State Department officially announced an extension of visa sanctions against senior Palestinian Authority officials and PLO members, claiming they continue to fail to meet their commitments to Washington. Abbas's name was not mentioned in the State Department's official announcement.
