The White House has asked the Pentagon to develop options for striking Iranian targets that could be executed before the U.S. midterm elections. This was reported by two sources in the American administration to The Atlantic. According to the sources, the planning process underscores how much U.S. President Donald Trump is interested in lowering fuel prices and demonstrating progress in the conflict before the vote. The scope of the possible strikes and their targets – as well as the question of whether they will actually be carried out – are still under discussion. The plans will be developed by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), an American source said.
