United States Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz addressed President Donald Trump's remarks that he is considering resuming the operation in Hormuz, telling Ynet that "all options remain on the table." At an Independence Day event hosted by Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, he said: "The president gave diplomacy a chance and showed restraint even when Iran fired on our ships. The regime cannot try to hold the entire world hostage because of an illegal and unacceptable nuclear program." When asked if action in Iran is a birthday gift to Israel, Waltz said it was a ridiculous question, explaining: "The gift to the world is stopping Iran's nuclear program before it becomes a reality." Waltz also confirmed reports that Israel transferred a laser system for missile defense to the United Arab Emirates.
