Minister for Social Equality and Advancement of Women's Status May Golan responded to the condemnation published by Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter regarding her statements against Knesset member Gilad Kariv and the Reform community. Golan wrote: "I am glad the ambassador had time to respond to my words and take them out of context. I want to clarify that my words were a direct response solely to Kariv himself and not to any community whatsoever. Kariv is a reckless person who intentionally harmed the country's security.
