Ramallah lynch suspect arrested

Shin Bet apprehend former Palestinian policeman in connection with Ramallah lynch

TEL AVIV - The Shin Bet announced Tuesday it had apprehended another suspect in the Ramallah 2000 lynch incident, where two IDF reserve soldiers were brutally killed.
Yosef Avrahami and Vadim Novesche accidentaly entered the city, where they were brutally attacked by an inflamed mob.
Both victims were stabbed and one was hurled out of a window.
The lynch suspect is 28-year-old Mohamed Abu Ida from the Jabaliya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.
The suspect had allegedly joined the Palestinian police force in 1999 after which he was stationed in the city of Ramallah.
On January 2nd, he left for Egypt where he stayed until January 31st of last year.
On his return to Israel, he was apprehended at the Gaza crossing and questioned for his involvement in the Ramallah lynch. During his investigation, the suspect admitted his involvement in the incident.
According to the Shin Bet, Ida said he had led the two Israelis to the Ramallah police station were he joined the other rioters.
Ida’s arrest joins that of dozens of other Palestinians already taken into custody for their part in the lynch, which left its mark on the Intifada uprising.
The defense establishment said it would continue to pursue others involved in the incident.
