Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wanted to attend Pope Leo XIV's inauguration ceremony but decided against it due to concerns over the enforcement of the arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC), ynet has learned. During preliminary checks, inquiries were made with Italy and the Vatican whether they would allow Netanyahu to arrive without arresting him, but the responses received were not satisfactory and it was unclear if they would honor the arrest warrants. Eventually, it was decided not to take the risk and the Prime Minister's Office chose to cancel the trip.
